KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 9 (TUESDAY) – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is proud to announce its strategic partnership with Informa Markets for the upcoming International Healthcare Week (IHW) 2024, taking place from 10-12 July 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
IHW 2024 is a milestone for the ASEAN healthcare exhibition landscape, featuring three iconic healthcare trade exhibitions held concurrently:

• CPHI Southeast Asia (CPHI SEA) 2024: This international trade exhibition and conference that serves as a centre hub for the pharmaceutical and herbal medicine industries, where leading companies unveil the latest advancements in drug development, manufacturing, and bioprocessing technologies.

• Medlab Asia 2024: Focussing on the medical laboratory industry, this exhibition features state of the art diagnostic equipment, laboratory solutions, and innovations in in-vitro diagnostics (IVD).

• Asia Health 2024: This comprehensive exhibition highlights the broader healthcare industry, featuring cutting-edge medical devices, equipment, and technologies across various medical specialties.
IHW 2024 serves as a strategic platform to elevate Malaysia’s position in the healthcare industry, both within ASEAN and globally. This initiative will not only bolster Malaysia’s reputation as a regional healthcare leader but also attract collaboration opportunities that drive further growth and development in the industry.
10 Malaysian companies, namely Am Life International Sdn Bhd, Massive Fan Industries, Reszon Diagnostics International Sdn Bhd, Selia-Tek Holdings Sdn Bhd, TPE Healthcare Sdn Bhd, Nuralatex Sdn Bhd, Cleanroom Industries Sdn Bhd, Dickson Unigage Sdn Bhd, MH Multipack Sdn Bhd, and Tubepac Sdn Bhd, will be exhibiting at IHW 2024, to showcase their innovations in medical devices, consumables and healthcare solutions. This event is expected to be a vibrant hub, attracting over 750 companies and 10,000 trade visitors.
A dedicated Malaysia Healthcare Day Forum will be held on 11 July 2024, featuring prominent speakers from MATRADE, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), the Medical Device Authority (MDA), the Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI), and the Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industries (MOPI). The forum aims to promote the Malaysian healthcare on an international scale.
Building on the momentum of IHW 2024, MATRADE is excited to announce that Malaysia will have the distinct honour of hosting the prestigious International Healthcare Week (IHW) in Kuala Lumpur in 2025. This recognition underscores the nation’s growing prominence in the regional healthcare scene and will attract leading international healthcare companies, investors, and buyers to Malaysia, creating a platform for local companies to forge valuable partnerships and expand their global reach.
YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Chairman of MATRADE, stated, “As a strategic partner in IHW 2024, Malaysia reaffirms its commitment to nurturing a dynamic healthcare ecosystem. This partnership not only elevates Malaysia’s standing in ASEAN but also sets the stage for Kuala Lumpur to host IHW 2025. This prestigious event will showcase our nation’s advancements and innovation in solidifying Malaysia’s pivotal role as a trailblazer in global healthcare innovation and infrastructure”.
He also added “this is part of the strategy to achieve a bilateral trade target of USD30 billion by 2027 between Malaysia and Thailand as agreed during the third Malaysia-Thailand Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting held in Malaysia last week. Malaysia is Thailand’s largest trading partner in ASEAN”.
In 2023, Malaysia’s total healthcare trade reached RM40.64 billion, with exports exceeding RM30 billion. Malaysian medical devices are gaining global traction, building on the country’s established reputation as the world’s leading exporter of medical gloves and catheters. With 49 offices worldwide, MATRADE bridges Malaysian companies with a global audience and provides crucial support in expanding their market reach. This extensive network facilitates international collaborations, offers valuable market intelligence, and enhances the visibility of Malaysia’s healthcare innovations on the global stage.

To capitalise on these growing opportunities, Malaysian healthcare players are encouraged to participate in prominent healthcare exhibitions around the world. These events provide valuable insights into market trends and business practices, while providing avenues to fostering connections with potential regional partners through follow-up engagements.
