Kuala Lumpur, Friday, 13th May 2022 – Face of Malaysia, one of the nation’s most prominent modeling competitions, returns to the centrestage once again this year after the pandemic movement restrictions were lifted, but this time with a new license holder. Taking over the mantle to produce and stage the Malaysian edition of the well respected regional competition, which is part of the Face of Asia and Asia Model Festival brands, is fast rising and highly successful event organiser International Celebrity Pageant Group, who have been granted a three-year license by the international brand principals.

Founded and headed by Lennard Tan, International Celebrity Pageant Group first came to prominence after successfully creating and staging the Miss & Mrs Celebrity Malaysia in 2019. They have since successful staged many other prominent pageant, celebrity, modeling and fashion related events.

Other than Face of Malaysia 2022, the group will also be staging the Face of Malaysia Junior 2022 competition for kids this year.

This was announced at a press conference and launch which was held at the Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by a host of celebrity personalities, key sponsors and partners, and members of the media.

Face of Malaysia 2022 will be presented this year by MK Group, a business organisation with diversified interests.

Attending and officiating the press launch were a group of prominent personalities that included Lennard Tan, CEO & founder of MK Group Dr Raymond Ang, international Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia, and International Celebrity Pageant Group (ICPG) advisors Dato’ Seri Irene Lai, Jenet Foo & Rowena.

In his opening remark, Dr Ang said, “I am proud to support and present Face of Malaysia this year, and look forward to sending more talented Malaysians to the international level so that they can make us proud and raise the name of our nation to the world.”

“The reason we decided to acquire the license to stage Face of Malaysia this year, is because we believe that there are a lot of multi-talented individuals in our country that can make us proud globally. We are extremely grateful that MK Group has come on board to support the competition as its presenter,” organiser Tan expressed.

Former franchise holder Amber Chia congratulated Lennard Tan for taking over the responsibility of organising Face of Malaysia and thanked him for having Amber Chia Academy as one of their collaborative partners.

“Face of Malaysia is not only looking for exotic or unique faces but is also looking at multi-talented individuals with unique personalities that can represent our nation proudly,” Chia added.

“The model market is very competitive. Good looks are not enough. The model must have personal characteristics that can shine and capture everyone’s attention” added Mrs Malaysia World 2015 Jenet Foo.

ICPG Advisor Dato Seri Irene Lai congratulated Lennard Tan for making the competition happen and for providing a platform to talented Malaysian to make their mark.

“Despite the difficulties of coping with the pandemic, I am proud that Lennard is creating opportunities for local talents to shine at the world stage”, expressed a jubilant Dato Seri Lai.

Auditions were and will be conducted in various locations in May. The qualifiers will be selected by a panel of judges that include Lennard Tan and also prominent Malaysian model Eleen Yong. The semi finals of the pageant will be staged in June while the the grand finals of the competition is expected to be held in mid July. The winners of Face of Malaysia will be sent to compete in the Face of Asia 2022 finals in South Korea. Although there is no international finals fo the junior category, around 10 to 12 kid qualifiers will be sent to South Korea to walk the runway in a special fashion showcase.

Amber Chia, from Amber Chia Academy has been announced as the principal judge for the Malaysian edition of the competition while the rest of the judges who will be selected from prominent personalities in the modeling fraternity, will be announced in June 2022.

Co-organising Face of Malaysia with Lennard Tan is Asia Model Festival Director Raulen Lee, who was away in South Korea during the press launch. Amber Chia Academy is the official supporting modeling academy while Eleen Yong is the official choreographer to the competition.

Hair and make up for the competition will be by Jooee Grooming Mason and Chrysalis Team respectively, while Alexio Yeoh and 8lab Studio are the official photographers with Double I as the official videographers.

Rentak Sejuta and Yamcha Time are the official media partners to Face of Malaysia.
