Association (MITDA) and Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Malaysia as a premier destination
for education-based tourism, with a special focus on Islamic studies, cultural immersion, and international academic exchange.

The MoU was formalised in a signing ceremony held at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam witnessed by industry players, tourism stakeholders, and academic leaders. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening Malaysia’s positioning in the education tourism sector, particularly within the ASEAN and Middle East markets.

Under the agreement, both MITDA and UIS will work closely to develop
structured education tourism programmes, including:

  • Short-term study tours for international students

  • Cultural immersion programmes for youth and scholars
  • Joint seminars, academic exchanges and tourism research collaborations
  • Promotion of UIS as a hub for Islamic education and tourism training
According to MITDA President Kapten Mahadzir Tan Sri Mansor, “This partnership aligns
with our vision to diversify Malaysia’s inbound tourism portfolio by highlighting education
and Islamic cultural experiences as unique, high-value offerings. UIS provides strong
academic credentials, and together we aim to make Selangor a magnet for learning
    tourism.”
UIS Vice Canselor Dato’ Professor Dr. Mohd Farid Ravi Bin Abdullah, welcomed the
partnership as a strategic move that complements the university’s internationalisation
agenda. “We believe knowledge is a bridge between cultures. Through this MoU, we aim
to welcome more international students, scholars and delegations who are not only
interested in learning but also in discovering Malaysia’s rich Islamic and multicultural
    heritage.
