“THE GLOW UP RAYA”Sungei Wang Plaza lights up with Culture, Music and Festive Experiences this Raya season

Kuala Lumpur, 28 February 2026 – In celebration of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Sungei Wang
Plaza warmly invites shoppers to embrace the spirit of togetherness and festive transformation
through its vibrant Raya campaign, “Glow Up Raya”, taking place from 28 February to 29 March 2026.

Held in support of Tourism Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative the campaign brings the festive
season to life with a unique blend of tradition and modern city charm, featuring cultural showcases,
musical performances, festive workshops, redemptions, a bustling bazaar, and meaningful community
initiatives.

Stepping into Sungei Wang Plaza this Raya season, visitors will be immersed in a captivating festive
décor that captures the nostalgic charm of a traditional Malaysian kampung, set against the vibrant
backdrop of modern Kuala Lumpur cityscape. At the Centre Court and Main Entrance, visitors are
welcomed by a large-scale kampung-inspired photo opportunity structure designed to evoke warmth,
familiarity, and the joy of balik kampung. The installation features a beautifully crafted façade
reminiscent of a wooden village house, complete with intricate batik elements and festive detailing,
while glimpses of KL’s iconic skyline subtly frame the scene, blending tradition with the energy of the
city.

Adding authenticity and texture to the setting, a batik loom and weaving-inspired decorative elements
are incorporated into the display, paying tribute to Malaysia’s rich textile heritage. Flowing batik
fabrics are suspended overhead, creating a visually striking canopy of colours and patterns that
enhances the festive atmosphere. Warm festive lights are strung across the installation, casting a
welcoming glow that transforms the space into a picturesque Raya village scene, making it ideal for
family portraits, social media moments and memorable gatherings. The combination of heritage
craftsmanship and contemporary presentation embodies the essence of “Glow Up Raya,” where
tradition is celebrated in a refreshed and modern way.

“This year’s Glow Up Raya is designed to immerse visitors in the warmth and nostalgia of a traditional
kampung celebration while incorporating modern elements that reflect today’s vibrant lifestyle. From
the batik-inspired installations to the lively performances, we want every visitor to experience Raya
not just as a shopping season, but as a meaningful cultural celebration.” Said Joseph Teo, General
Manager of Sungei Wang Plaza.
